I am standing outside of Cadogan House waiting to see Merit for an interview with her. Author Chloe Neill kindly set up this appointment for me to meet Merit and since it has been so crazy around Cadogan House these days I am meeting Merit out front on the lawn. I am far from alone out here. News reporters and crews, as well as a few curious individuals are all out here as usual. Hearing a few
people call Merit’s name, I wave my chocolate Easter bunny around as previously agreed upon in order to get her attention and let her know who I am. Merit smiles, thanks me for the bunny and sticks it in her pocket. I have three more at home and ate one on the way over so I don’t mind.

Thank you Merit for agreeing to see me today. I know you are busy so let’s get to the interview if that’s okay.

LLBR: What’s it like being Sentinel for Cadogan House? Do you like it?

Merit: It’s a very educational job. It can be stressful at times, of course, to have the weight of the House on my shoulders, but I’m learning so much–about the Houses, about vampires, about history.  About myself, I think. About loyalty.

LLBR: If you were not Sentinel, What would you be doing work-wise?

Merit: I imagine I would still be a human working on my dissertation. I’d been in graduate school before I was changed, so I guess I’d be back there again.

LLBR: If you had a week off from work and responsibility, where would you go, what would you do, and who would you do it with?

Merit: I’d love to visit Europe. Prague, maybe, or Vienna. Beautiful, intriguing cities with great food.

LLBR: What can readers expect to learn about you in HARD BITTEN?

Merit: I guess they’ll generally see more about who I am and what I’m becoming as Sentinel of the House. I think the position is changing me for the better, and I hope that comes through.

LLBR: How Is Mallory and Catcher doing? Do you get to see them as much as you’d like these days?

Merit: Not really. Mallory’s pretty busy learning magic, and I don’t see Catcher as often since Ethan took over my training. I do try to see them socially, though, for pizza or something. That’s always fun.

LLBR: What are the best and worse things to you about being a vampire?

Merit: Worse is no sunlight. Best is ability to eat whatever I want and damn the calories! 🙂

LLBR: Will you give your personal relationship with Ethan another chance?

Merit: I don’t know. It’s just so complicated…

LLBR: Have you spoken to Jonah recently?

Merit: Not recently, no.

LLBR: Physically speaking, what famous person(s) is/are your ideal man?

Merit: I totally heart Gerard Butler. That Scottish accent is fabulous!  And he’s not too awful to look at either. 🙂

LLBR: Where do you see yourself in the next two years?

Merit: Being immortal, I imagine not much different. 🙂

Thank you Merit.  I would love to come back in November to talk to you again. Bye!

Merit: *waves* Bye! Thanks for having me today!
